It was a busy night for the Atlanta Hawks and GM Danny Ferry. The team held two first round picks at numbers 17 and 18. There were many scenarios as to if Atlanta wanted to trade up or stay content with the picks they had.

The Hawks selected Brazil Center Lucas Nogueira with the 16th overall pick from the Dallas Mavericks. From the trade, Dallas acquired Miami Guard Shane Larkin from Atlanta's original #17 pick. Nogueira played for the Brazilian U-19 national team at the 2011 FIBA Under-19 World Championship. He was ranked fifth in rebounds per game and second in blocks per game.
With the 17th overall pick, Atlanta choose 19 year old Dennis Schroeder from Germany. He played for the German national under-18 and national under-20 teams. Schroeder played with Germany in the 2012 FIBA Europe under-20 Championship and led his team to fifth place. He averaged six points and two assists. Scroeder also played for SG Braunschweig and averaged 17 PPG in the playoffs.
Mike Muscalla was drafted 44th overall from the Dallas Mavericks but was traded to the Hawks. He played his college basketball at Bucknell and in 2011 he was the Patriot League player of the year. This past season, he won the Patriot League player of the year award along with its defensive player of the year award.

Atlanta drafted PG Raul Neto, another Brazilian drafted by the Hawks in the 2013 NBA Draft. He averaged eight points and two assists with his team, Lagun Aro GBC.
The Hawks drafted Long Beach State Forward James Enis with the 50th overall pick but was traded to the Miami Heat. He averaged 16 points and seven rebounds this past season in his senior year.
Overall, the Atlanta Hawks had a decent draft but will be looking to build a stronger team via free agency. They have $30 million in cap space and will look to bring a superstar to Atlanta.- Yuriy Andriyashchuk
